Within the haunted halls of the Cockcroft Institute (CI), sinister experiments are underway, delving into the realms of particle accelerators and intense sources of radiation. There are many weird and wonderful phenomena which are part of this research including electromagnetic forces, superconductivity and invisible light. There are also many unanswered questions such as trying to find what the universe is made of. Here, we explore some of these in more detail and explain how they are connected to the research carried out at CI.
