CI researchers are carrying out developments into particle beam based cancer therapy, including future upgrades of the proton beam therapy facility at the CHRISTIE hospital, online dose monitor development with the Clatterbridge Cancer Center, and high energy electron radiotherapy R&D.
Activities also include work on compact accelerators for cargo and other security scanning, water purification using electron beams, and the design and construction of compact radiation sources. Our spin-off company D-Beam specialises on the commercialisation of advanced beam diagnostic techniques for accelerators and light sources.
