The Cockcroft institute is inviting companies with ideas for small research projects to take part in our summer student programme.

The Cockcroft Institute Summer Student Programme 2026

Join the Cockcroft Summer Student Programme and showcase your commitment to developing the next generation of talent.

By hosting a summer student project, your company gains fresh ideas, access to motivated undergraduates, and visibility as a leader in innovation.

With access to unique equipment and expertise, students will be employed by one of the Cockcroft partner universities and supervised by an experienced member of our team to help guide the work.

Dates

The programme will run for 7 weeks:

    • 29th June – 14th August 2026.

This includes two days* at the beginning and end where all students will be at Daresbury Labs for introductory tours, talks and presentations, and to present project outcomes.

Cost

£5000 per student (ex. VAT).

Covers:

    • National living wage for 7 weeks.

    • Travel, accommodation and food for group days spent at Daresbury Labs.
