Particle Accelerator Engineering Network Annual Meeting – Online – 9-10 November 2021

The Particle Accelerator Engineering Network is a collaboration between the IET, IMechE and IoP to support all types of engineers and technicians working in the accelerator field. The network is currently chaired by Prof Graeme Burt, Cockcroft Institute who co-founded the network with Dan Faircloth, ISIS.

The annual meeting is an important way to keep abreast of the latest developments in accelerator engineering. By attending the event this year, you will be among those that have contributed to growing our understanding of the world that we live in through projects such as the large hadron collider.  Topical applications of particle accelerators are also discussed, such as thin film SRF and E-beam welding.

The speakers include:

  • Keynote Presentation by Joseph Tuozzolo, Brookhaven National Laboratory
  • Particle Physics Technology Roadmaps, Dave Newbold, STFC
  • Delivery Transmission Line systems at ESS by Rob Edgecock, University of Huddersfield
  • Thin film SRF by Francis Lockwood Estrin, University of Liverpool
  • E-beam welding by Mike Nunn, TWI Ltd
  • HEP Technology Roadmaps by Dave Newbold, STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory
  • MR Linac Beam Generation by Rita Morgado da Silva, Elektra
  • Electron Beam tanning of Leather by Rob Apsimon, University of Lancaster
  • Modifications and limitations of the DCF beamline hot cell to allow for high temperature irradiations by Carl Andrews, University of Manchester

There will also be an early-career poster prize competition held on the 10th November. Applicants should be within 4 years of their undergraduate degree OR be registered in an industry or national lab graduate programme. Full details about this poster competition, with a £100 gift voucher prize plus IET certificate, can be found via the registration link below.

The event will again take place in the form of Zoom webinars spread over two days: the afternoon of 9 November (14:00-17:00) and the morning of 10 November (9:30-12:30).
