Particle accelerator text book made open access

“The Science and Technology of Particle Accelerators”, an introductory text book written by Rob Appleby, Graeme Burt, James Clarke and Hywel Owen who are all members of the Cockcroft Institute has been made open access. Reflecting the value of the textbook to the accelerator community, the availability of this accessible textbook in open access form will mean that current and future generations of accelerator scientists and engineers can benefit from its content.

“The Science and Technology of Particle Accelerators” provides an accessible introduction to the field, and is suitable for advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and academics. It will also be useful for professionals working in national laboratories and facilities, and those in industry and medicine who are designing or using particle accelerators. Providing integrated coverage of accelerator science and technology, this book presents the fundamental concepts alongside detailed engineering discussions and extensive practical guidance as well as many numerical examples.
