Cockcroft Institute Postgraduate Conference

The Cockcroft held its 3rd annual postgraduate conference on the 3rd September. Students from all three Universities and ASTeC presented their research to a group of their peers plus a judging panel made up of lecturers and senior ASTeC staff.
This year the best overall student went to Chris Edmonds, for his work on ALICE, and best 1st year went to Emelia Cruz-Alaniz, for her work on LHeC, both from Liverpool University. Emmy Sharples from Lancaster was awarded the runner-up prize for her research on Metamaterials. The students all win a physics textbook on accelerators.
