How would a laser plasma accelerator with industry beam quality look like?

In an article just published in physicsworld the head of the Liverpool Accelerator Physics Group at the Cockcroft Institute, Prof. Carsten P. Welsch, discusses some of the particular challenges linked to laser plasma accelerators. These novel machines are a research focus within the institute.

The Cockcroft Institute is a partner in the EuPRAXIA consortium and is making contributions to the development of key technologies for the world’s first high-energy laser plasma accelerator facility for use by science and industry.
