Autumn Cockcroft Institute Lecture Series

Dear Colleague,

I have pleasure in sending details of the Cockcroft Institute lecture series to be presented during the autumn term 2010.  Full details, including dates and times, are shown on the programme advertisement. 

I am delighted to recommend the present programme, which provides an essential background in accelerator physics.   The series begins with a conspectus of accelerators, followed by a review of the essentials of relativity and electromagnetism, lectures on magnets, a special course on superconducting cryogenics, and concludes with a series of lectures on linear dynamics of accelerators.   The courses in this series range from introductory to intermediate in level.  Overall, this balanced structure provides an excellent opportunity to learn from experts in the field on critically important areas of accelerator physics.  I encourage both students, and professional physicists alike, to attend these lectures.  It is an invaluable opportunity to learn of the potential for new accelerators and indeed to cement your background knowledge of the fundamentals of accelerators.

We are particularly lucky to have so many highly qualified and enthusiastic world-class lecturers and practioners prepared to give up time to present their material at the Cockcroft Institute.

I should emphasise that all of these lectures are open to everyone with an interest in cutting edge accelerator physics - staff and students at HEIs, members of other laboratories, industrial and commercial organisations that see the subject of our lectures having value for their staff and interested and suitably qualified individuals. All Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus members are also welcome to attend at no charge.
