The Cockcroft Institute in the UK and CERN, Geneva, Switzerland are organizing a short workshop entitled “Accelerator-driven Production of Medical Isotopes”. This will be held at the Cockcroft Institute at the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus, which is located close to and between the two great UK research intensive Universities of Liverpool and Manchester. The proposal is for the workshop to start in the morning of Thursday Dec 8th, a workshop dinner on the same evening and continue till lunch on Friday Dec 9th 2011.

The objectives of the workshop are:-

    To bring together accelerator and medical experts and specialists in radio-isotope production and to disseminate information on current projects and practices;

    To look at possible areas of accelerator technologies that could be developed for medical isotope production in the future;

    To identify areas of isotope production particularly for novel, new radio-nuclides that are not widely available.
